[In]Habitation

[In]Habitation is a means to provide housing and gathering pavilions on a local site in Northern Kentucky along the Ohio River. With this team project [Brie Voetberg], we wanted to provide a separation between public and private gathering space amongst the dwellers. We have 5 public pavilions nested into the ground and private units floating above the site. Initial ideas of layered limestone and landslides derived pushing and pulling along with the layering of the units. The placement of the living units allowed optimization of views of the city, river, friendship park. The playful geometry of the pavilions invites users into space from the ground plane, offering various activities for engagement.
